A team of scientists have successfully created a horse-sized duck in a quest to settle the age-old debate over which would be scarier – a horse-sized duck or a hundred duck-sized horses.
The inspiration for this feathery experiment reportedly came from a heated pub debate among inebriated patrons, with opinions divided on whether facing a horse sized duck or 100 duck sized horses would induce more fear.
Dr. Andrew Smith, lead researcher and a self proclaimed avid duck enthusiast, explained the motivation behind the study. “We wanted to bring an actual answer to that age old question. What better way to do that than by engineering a giant duck?”
The duck, affectionately named “Quackzilla,” stands at an impressive 16 hands high (for non horse folk, that’s about 5 feet from the floor to the base of the neck) and waddles about with a certain majestic awkwardness. Initial reactions from the scientific community have been mixed, with some praising the dedication to settling the heated debate, while others question the ethical implications of playing with nature’s size settings.
The experiment is only half completed though. Dr. Smith has mentioned that breeding duck sized horses has been much more difficult, especially with recent budget cuts. “Who really cares about the moon or Mars? They’re not going anywhere any time soon. We’re the ones doing the important research to problems that matter now.”
